So far I've enjoyed the logo creating and more so the stuff that really expresses our individual artistic abilities. I did not enjoy the company project, I thought it seemed irrelevant pertaining to digital imaging, I felt it was more business oriented then digital art.
I did this on my own time but its my favorite.

My presentation went a bit better than expected. The best part was that I actually had the physical project for them to see. The weakest would be the fact that we did not have the packaging label or the letter head. The main thing I learned is that we should have more representation of our actual product itself.

Reflect on company progress.

Why are we creating companies? how does filling out resumes and creating business planes relate to anything in digital imaging? This I do not know and quite frankly upsets me. I took this class to improve on my digital art publishing abilities. Have I learned useful tools, yes I have, does it relate to digital imaging, no. My company/business has made little to no progress for this reason, I WANT DIGITAL IMAGING!

This is my favorite because it catches the eye, and is rather simple. I used many tools such as the circle tool to create the ring and the inner circle, also I used the heart stencil and the text tool then made a text layer mask over the heart. After everything was in lace i went back and added drop shadow, inner and outer bevel, gradients, outer and inner glow. I also added a transparent rectangle to add the glare effect.

What are the eight parts of the business plan your were assigned? Is that different then you thought? What are the issues you have had so far writing your plan? What has been easy?

Executive summary, company description, market analysis, organization and management, service or product, marketing and sales, funding requests, financial projections. No, they are not different than I thought, they are what I expected to be putting in the business plan. Some of the long term stuff is a bit tricky to think about and plan out but the easiest would be the company description.

EQ 4--What do you think goes in a business plan? What are the parts? Is research involved? What facts do you need to know, if any? Where could you find this information?

Probably research what is needed such as, tools, equipment, a  plan of  attack,  and advertisement.
Stuff like cost of labor, time, and inventory are big things that need to be thought about. No matter what your trying to sell or provide you need to know your target audience and how you could influence them to buy your product/service.

Explain at least two difference between Photoshop and Illustrator. Which one do you like better and why?

2 big differences I noticed was, Illustrator uses vector lines so that the image does not show any pixels no matter how far you zoom in. Another difference would be that there is no fill tool in Illustrator and makes it difficult to fill an area with color and or a gradient. I don't necessarily like one better than the other, they both have unique features that work really well and I use both programs like they were one.

EQ 2--What has been your favorite project so far and why? Upload the project and explain why it has been your favorite.

My favorite projects would be creating logos. Anything where Im using my own ideas is always more fun then being told what to create. Logos are also simple and can be crafted into anything and everything and its just a really fun area where you can do whatever you can imagine.

EQ 1--What do you need to do to start a business? Try to list and explain at least 5 things that you would need to consider.

Many different factors come into consideration when starting a business such as location, image, advertising, cost, and time. Location is a huge factor that can largely impact your business, depending on your market will determine the amount of traffic you will want around your business. A local cafe would be better off in a more rural area than say a lumber yard where more space would be needed to maneuver. Image is another key factor, its how you will present yourself in the market and how the public will view you. Advertising is just as important, its a way to show what your business has to offer and helps get your business out there. Cost and time go together but are both equal in importance. You need to think of how long it will take to get up and running and at what cost. All in all, these are just some key factors that are good building blocks to start with.
